Prescription medications are commonly used for our furry friends to prevent and/or manage medical conditions. At Lexington Animal Clinic we offer a variety of medications that are FDA approved for your pet(s).
Prescription medications should always be administered as prescribed. Failure to follow labeled instructions could put your pets health at risk. Never share medications between pets. Remember that when used properly, medications have a low risk to benefit ratio. Keep in mind that some prescriptions may require monitoring. This ensures that your pet is receiving the maximum benefit from his/her medications and helps reduce the risk of complications.
A Veterinary Client Patient Relationship (VCPR) exists when a veterinarian has examined your pet within the last year. This is required by the Kentucky Veterinary Practice Act. It is unethical and illegal to prescribe, diagnose or recommend treatment of your pet without an annual VCRP.
